“I’m really liking this course! Before I even started, I jumped ahead and downloaded Unity, a free game development platform. but as soon as I got into that, I realized I needed to learn more first. I’m really liking Scratch. It’s a perfect beginner’s game developing platform, and you can do some really neat stuff with it. My favorite part about this course is the Game Journals. It gives me incentive to write my ideas down and think more about what I want to make in the future. I’m hoping this class will take me pretty far in my journey to becoming a game developer.”

“I think that this course is very beneficial for first year students and it helps to get a better understanding of what we have learned previously. The assessments were easy to do as long as you actually make an effort on the other parts of the unit. I also really enjoyed the video link in the reading portion for more visual examples. “I am so happy with my decision to take this class! It was the most interesting, engaging, and fun class I have ever taken. It truly felt more like a hobby than a class because I love to learn and talk about this stuff. There was a perfect mix of reading, watching, and reflecting. I felt that it allowed me to truly understand the material and become more knowledgeable. My only suggestion for improvements would maybe be a list of other impactful films, books, or TED talks that students could watch after the course. That way if they are interested in the subject matter, it would encourage more growth beyond a grade. Also, I personally tend to forget to watch movies because I am busy with homework and ECs but this allowed me to combine films and homework and I really enjoyed it. I will be recommending it to my friends!”

“I really enjoy that this class can be done at my own pace. Sometimes it is hard to bring myself to do the big assignments but it’s not bad. The lessons are interesting and I enjoy reading about real issues and getting a humbling perspective on things. A lot of people don’t know or understand the realness of these issues, a course like this one should be taught to more students since it brings up big world problems like poverty that many students at my school aren’t affected by.”
