Welcome to Odyssia Africa! We are pleased to introduce Odyssia learning in Africa. Since the pandemic began, the education system has not returned to normal in Africa. Students and teachers are struggling to cover the syllabus and as a result a great number of students are struggling to catch up. The main goal of Odyssia in Africa is to help students catch up by introducing the Odyssia Learning on-line platform, where students can study from the comfort of their homes.
Numerous countries are yet to adopt on-line studies or education in their education systems. Schools in Africa offer in-class education where students have to attend classes in person. Most schools in Africa offer boarding facilities for students where they board for a certain period of time and have breaks in between. The boarding schools accept students from 6 years-18 years of age, that being from Junior level to High School level.
In Africa there are both public and private schools. Public schools are government sponsored or government owned. In public schools students are able to access free education in elementary level and when they join High School, parents pay a certain amount of school fees and the government also covers a certain portion of school fees. This is the same with the public universities where learners pay a certain portion and the government pays another portion.
Private schools are mostly self-sponsored. The government does not cover any amount of the school fees, instead, it is the parents that pay for everything.
Most High Schools in Africa are Boarding Schools, although there are also High Schools for day-scholars or those who go to school in the morning and come back in the evening. Most parents prefer taking their children to Boarding Schools at High School level because the most learning facilities reside within boarding schools.
There are also International schools in Africa. These International schools mostly offer British curriculum and American education system. They are very costly, therefore, the majority of Africans are not able to afford the International schools.
When it comes to the University or College education in Africa, there are Degree courses, Diploma Courses and Certificate Courses. There is also a Vocational Institution that offers vocational courses. Most universities or colleges offer on-campus education, but at the same time they also offer off-campus learning, which is Long distance learning or E-learning. Before a student gets admitted in the university, one has to attain a certain grade in High School and there are cut-off points for one to be selected for a government sponsored program. Government sponsored programs cost less and are more affordable.
In Africia there are also Self-Sponsored Programs, and these do not have any cut-off points, however, they are a bit costly as the student pays for everything.
University education has two semesters and a long holiday break which last for 4 months. Most bachelor degree programs take four (4) years to finish, and take two years for diploma and certificate courses. Some certificate courses take six (6) weeks to six (6) months complete.
The main focus/ Mission of Odyssia Learning Africa is...
"To ensure that education can be affordable to all throughout the world".
Odyssia offers Certificate courses which can be taken and completed within a short period. Our Platform is purely on-line and the studies can be taken anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection.
